I love when a family’s favorite hang out can be used for their portrait session location! Pretty backgrounds are nice, but using a spot that is special to them makes the photos that much more meaningful.
When I asked the mom if she had any spots in mind already, she asked if we could shoot at their daughter’s favorite courtyard area at the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. When the evening of the session rolled around, it was gray and drizzly. Guess what? We pressed on and did the session anyway, and it was amazing!
When I arrived on The Plaza their daughter was asleep (she’d had a busy day, and fallen asleep in the car), but after sipping on a milk shake, she perked right up and was amazing for the camera. Waaaay too many favorites from this one!
She brought some little pink daisies to the session, and they made it into nearly every photo. She played with them, smelled them, tried to give them to the fountain statues… I was cracking up and having a great time capturing it all!
Isn’t she darling?! The last time I photographed her she was equally as cute, and just a toddler. I loved seeing how much she’s changed, not too mention she’s a bit more talkative now than she was 3 years ago.
MeganI’ve always wanted to get professional pictures at the Plaza. So many different and beautiful Kansas City backdrops!
Jennifer HoweI love the daisies!!!
