I love capturing the family connection at a newborn session! When this particular family walked into my Kansas City studio, I knew some serious magic was about to be made, and it made me giddy inside! Later, as I was processing their session photos, the beauty and emotion I saw made me catch my breath several times.
I mean, really… when you capture a moment like this, something that probably happens on a daily basis in their home, how can you not feel that beautiful connection yourself?
Mom told me in their pre-session questionnaire that they placed a higher importance on the family/sibling/parent images, so we spent more time than normal focusing on that. (Usually we only spend the first 30 minutes or so of the session focusing on family and sibling images, and then the bulk of the rest of time is spent soothing baby into the sweet, sleepy poses.) What resulted this time though was an absolutely beautiful gallery, full of images showing off just how much this little family adores each other.
After a quick snack break, we moved on to a few solo shots of their beautiful baby girl. She did amazing in the short time we left for just her, and she gave me some new favorite newborn images for sure.
This last one here is now featured on some of my new business cards as well as the front page of the website, I loved it that much!
Truly such an honor to get to capture this family’s first portraits as a family of 5!
