Kansas City Newborn Photography Studio Tour
Welcome to the online version “tour” of my Kansas City newborn photography studio! If you’d ever like to set up a time to see it in person, I’d be happy to do that. Just get in touch via the “contact” button.
Considering I specialize in newborns and babies, my studio vision had always been beautiful soft light, a calm atmosphere, and plenty of room for my serious prop hoarding addiction. When I stumbled upon this space in early 2014, I knew I’d found it! Great size, gorgeous light from big windows, a separate area where clients could hang out and I could keep my packaging supplies, and a nice little spot for all of my props. On top of all of that, it’s in a fabulous location – second floor of a historically protected building, right near several Waldo hot spots (Waldo Pizza anyone?!).
When parents enter through the door of my studio, they’re greeted by a few beautiful images of sweet babies that have been in front of my camera, a calm (and warm if it’s a newborn session!) environment, and lots of airy light.
I have comfortable seating (some of which doubles as seating in pictures too), and a changing table. Hiding under the changing table is also a basket of toys and books, for waiting siblings to entertain themselves with! For those more into technology, I also offer wi-fi at the studio, and a TV with DVD player in the other room.
That dark wood floor and wall piece you see is actually double sided! The other side is painted white, and I’ll have it flipped to whichever side goes best with the wall colors in your own home.
Props, props, and more props! I have a prop buying problem (as my husband will attest to), but I just can’t say “no” to all the cute things. When you come in for your session, I’ll invite you to look around and if you see things you just love, I’ll do my best to use them during the session! If you just love all of it, then I’ll go with my own vision and favorites for prop combos.
Through that doorway you can half way see in the above pictures, you enter a smaller room, where I sometimes catch up on editing, parents can view and touch various samples, grab a beverage or snack (there’s water, cold coffee drinks, Diet Coke, and chocolate milk in that fridge!), and the most important part… it’s where the majority of my clients view their session images and decide what to print! I love watching parents’ reactions as they view the images of their child(ren) on that 40″ TV screen.
So there you have it – the home of Faces You Love Photography! While I still do some on-location shoots for older babies, children, and families, this is where the bulk of the magic happens!
Now that you’ve seen the space, check out why it’s so perfect for newborn sessions, on this page of examples and explanations of newborn photography styles and how mine fits into it!
