It feels almost unbelievable to type this out, especially given the year we just came through, but Faces You Love Photography turns 10 this year! TEN!
What started as a small side hustle, to help a mom of 4 under 4 get out of the house and be creative once in a while, turned quickly into a full time job. It spun from doing newborn sessions in people’s garages (seriously – that’s where my first few happened) to having a 1,200 square foot studio all to myself. I’ve bought countless props (no way am I adding all that up for you!), learned how to use external flash, am on camera body number 4, am on studio number 3, and have been through several different lenses while trying to land on my favorites.
I have no clue how many people I’ve photographed in the last almost-10 years. Hundreds? Seems likely. I’ve taught dozens how to use their DSLR and mirrorless cameras, and even dabbled in the last 12 months with teaching people how to take better photos with their phones. I’ve seen my NICU volunteer work go viral and worldwide, multiple times, and have seen parents and grandparents moved to tears when seeing their priceless images for the first time.
So much of this wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t taken the leap of faith to start my business! And with my leap of faith, a whole lot of you also took a leap of faith in hiring me to photograph your baby, children, or family!
Seriously.
I mean, at least I was good at making sure I only showed you pictures where things were in focus, but I’ll be honest with you – my posing was often lacking, I didn’t understand white balance properly sometimes, and I clearly was “new”.

In 2011 and 2012 having a hair and makeup artist there for moms was not even on my radar… it’s standard now for all of my full length sessions, and you’ll get this super fun perk! SESSION TYPES YOU CAN USE THIS FOR: You’re welcome to book this for newborn, baby, family, maternity, high school senior, even professional headshots! I do ask that it not be used for extended family sessions (meaning more than just your immediate family – adding grandparents, cousins, etc adds a whole layer of chaos and that requires more cash for my time), and also not to be used for my soon-to-be-announced Sparkle sessions.
So how soon can you schedule? Now! Do it now! Your session must take place in 2021, and I do take much of December off as well as a lighter schedule in the summer. Because there were 68 wonderful families who hired me in my first year and a half of business, I do have to limit how many each month I can take at this price. Could you imagine how crazed I would look if I took 20 of you all in October? Yikes.
Sessions must be booked by my business birthday, June 14, 2021, and has to be held by the end of December 2021!
